Washing.

The time came to do the laundry and lucky enough our hotel in New York was five doors down from the laundrette.

I brought the washing powder for 75 cents per load and the machines come in three sizes, small $1.50, medium $2.50 or large $3.50. Then the drier was 25 cents for 8 minutes. We were in and out within the hour and Faye loved it.

When packing for the trip I tried to colour code our clothes to make this easier. We’ve gone for white, navy and pink. I also pre washed everything to minimise colour running. I had an incident on a previous holiday where one of Faye’s swimming costumes that was bright pink bled when it was wet.

I don’t know if it would be the same for boys but Faye throughly enjoyed loading and unloading the machines, so it provided cheap entertainment for an hour!
